Don't know if the above link will help you, MechE, but I do know they paint the lids there at the plant in Britt, IA. I had it installed after the paint dried. Perhaps, there are several plants that do the work and the quality varies between them? Seems like it had a 24 month warranty on it, if I remember correctly.
Good luck!

What is wrong with your unicover tonneau? I was out looking at mine and there are some very, very minor flaws in the paint, but that is typical of fiberglass. Am basically very satisfied and would not take it back for the tiny flaws I see. No one would notice them, if I didn't point 'em out!

I have a problem with my paint, I know fiberglass will not be perfect but it appears like there are many small to eraser sized rust spots all over the covers I have. the spots are rough textured and have never washed off any of the times i have washed the cover.
My cover has the spots, my sister that goes to college 7 hours from me has the spots on her cover and we have one in storage never been used outside that has the spots. This leeads me to believe its a paint quality problem. The only link for all three lids is that all of them came from the same wholesaler.
