No Seam Sealer in Bed?

No Seam Sealer in Bed?
Whiole washing my 08 FX4 5.5 ' bed today I noticed that I could see the ground thru the joint where the bottom of the bed and the bed sides curve down to meet it. Shouldn't this be sealed? Has anyone else observed this issue?

My 07 has gaps in the bed (even with the spray in liner) Im assuming its for drainage.
