worth it?
worth it?
I purchased my 2002 supercrew last fall. Since purchase I've stuck a lot of money it in addition to the purchase price - Basically complete front end, rear shocks, and now looking at cat replacement. Got a nice fiberglass tonnue cover. This spring, I noticed signs of rust along the bottom of the doors (typical) and a rust spot forming on the SS panel trim on driver door. There are signs of bubbling around the bottom of the doors too. I get a lot of nice compimants on my truck's looks. I got one estimate to do all four doors, replace the SS panel on the driver door and an oil based rust proof on the inside of all the panels. I figure if I don't do something, by next spring after another WI winter it won't be looking so nice. The truck has 120k on it. The estimate is 1500. I'm thinking about getting another estimate but I have history with this shop and he does good work.
So is it worth it? Would you do it or would you just keep up the maint stuff and let the body go to hell? I would hope to have it at least another 5 or so years, but history says I won't.

No I haven't...That's true, I maybe able to find the SS panel there. Not sure how easily they can be re-used. I think they are damaged when taken off.
I'm pretty low on money, may have to let winter take another round of punishment on the truck before getting it done.
