Angry 08' Paint Question??

I Just bought a 08' FX4 with 25000 miles. It really is in great shape and drives like new. I looked at the car fax and it was clean. At home I looked under the hood and I noticed that the rim along where the hood comes down is in primer only, no body paint. Under the hood too. The rubber stops where the hood reasts are sloppily painted in primer two. Is this normal, or was this truck in a front end collission? The former owner was a head mechanic at the ford dealer, could he have had it fixed and covered it up???

A little suspicious,
Chris Storch:smoke

Its snowing here right now, but I will go look at mine tomorrow and let you know what mine looks like. All I can say is, it doesn't sound right

I went out and took a quick look and all of my body panels appear to be completely painted on all sides. I took a quick pic of the underside of my hood and it is also painted underneath.

From your description it sounds as though some parts may have been replaced.

Maybe it's just a replacement hood from damage other than a collision. Case in point, my truck got hammered by hail and I needed a new hood.

Most manufactures just base every thing then only clear the outside panels, some even use a solid "underhood" color that covers quicker than body color, none of our trucks are shiny underneath the hood, I usually match that at work so it looks factory. All panels should have a sticker on them with a vin number (bout 1/2" by2") if there is one that says R DOT it's been replaced

Posting some pics of your hood would be nice, so we can see what it looks like.

Are those stickers located where they are easy to see without removing the panel? I'll bookmark this post and take a look this summer.
