window leak?

window leak?

ok, 2002 extended cab. when it rains my truck will have a little bit of water leak through the back doors windows, my daddy had a 2003 extended cab and he said his back window leaked, and he got it fixed for about 120 bucks..anybody else with this problem?

i have the leak. its real annoying and sometimes makes my truck 'musty' . it comes in at the back window

its common on the 97-03s

oh crap yes, REAL musty.

mine comes from the side windows on the back door though..

That isn't a hard fix. I recently repaired my side windows on my 2002 SCab. You will need to buy a piece of butyl rubber tape. I bought mine from a glass company.
!. Remove the inside door trim.
2. Loosen the several bolts that hold the window unit in place.
3. Remove the window unit(the old butyl tape is very sticky, be ready for a mess)
4. Clean old butyl tape from outside door unit and window unit.
5. Place new butyl tape to window unit.
6. Place window unit onto door and replace bolts to window unit, Tighten in star pattern.
7. Check for leaks. Replace interior door trim if leak-free.

The problem is that the old butyl tape has a foam core. The old foam core disintegrates with time and causes the seal to leak.

Sorry no pics. Very easy fix.
