Broken 3rd Door Mystery Solved
Broken 3rd Door Mystery Solved
Well, after lurking here for a couple years, and letting my broke door sit for a year, I finally got the trim off and found the prob.
The outer cover of the cable that opens the top latch broke where it fits into the latch mechanism broke. The cable fell out of the bracket and the cable doesnt pull the latch open any more.
Seems a new cable will fix it. Guess you have to pull the top latch out to fix it.
I will post the results when I get it fixed.

Thanks. I had searched several times and never seen the thread with the pictures.
Now I have pictures as well as the original.
And the cable only comes as part of the upper latch assembly, for $84.
My temporary fix with three wire ties may have to last awhile.

I put a couple of wire ties to hold the cable into the bracket on Sunday, and it held for a couple days.
So I just put the door panels back on. Gotta travel next week.
Its working and I may try a salvage yard if it get time. Otherwise its back to Ford.
