Questions about FX2 Grille with broken tabs

I broke down and bought a supposed "new take off" FX2 off E-Bay for 50 bucks shipped. They shipped it fast, I had it in two days but when I inspected it, all the tabs were broken off to include the ones for the emblem. So much for new. Worst case scenario is they refuse to refund my cash and I am stuck with a broke, new FX2 grille. The question is, can I still mount it? If so, need advice on how to do it in spite of the broken tabs. The emblem mounting is an easy fix, double sided emblem tape, the tabs is where I am thinking now. Thanks

If you really don't want to use it, make a claim. If the item did not arrive as described in the auction, you should have a case.

IMO the broken tabs are not a big deal. BUT if your surround clips are broken that's a different story. The tabs on the grille itself just keep the clips on the surround locked in place better. The tabs on the FX2 grille I bought off Ebay weren't there either. It mounted just fine and was solid in the surround because my surround clips were all there. Plus there are 4 screws on the bracket that mounts to your hood, 2 on each side, that screw into the grille to help keep it secure. It's been on almost 2 weeks. My son raced out of town last weekend so it's been on the highway for over about 4 hours at 75-80mph with no problems what so ever. It's very solid.

worst case scenario is you just bought yourself a lower grill

if the surround clips are broken and it doesnt mount up id say use that one to make a lower grill, and just buy a "new" one for the top - not one for $50 though lol

Hey Guys, saw this thread & thought I'd steal it. I'm facing the same dilemma. I bought this grille surround off of ebay: .

All tabs are still in tact, but as you can see, the 6 bolt holes have been broken. There's about 3/4 of the bolt tabs left. Do you think that this would suffice to mount an FX2 grille insert that does NOT have the tabs? I'm really concerned that it might not work. Thoughts?

definitely make sure the listing stated if the tabs were broken off. i have been looking on ebay for the same grille just for kicks since i already have one and saw one with the tabs broken off which was clearly stated in the listing. it might be a different seller but i have not seen many people selling these grilles on ebay.
