Rust pits in plastic grill?

On my 08 it appears to be rust pits on the chrome plastic grill. I dont know if the chrome is flaking off. Looks like a chrome piece that is rusting. Anyone else have this problem? Due in for an oil change soon I'll have the dealer look at it.

Seiing how plastic doesn't rust and that ford uses a cheap chrome system it is more than likely just starting to flake off

More than likely it's caused by road salt. Same thing happened to my tailgate on my 98, a little clay bar will take care of it, unless of course it is flaking off but that usually won't look like rust.

It's called rail dust or industrial fallout.

Just use a clay bar or even a chrome polish.

yeah my rear bumper looks rusted to hell, it's just crap from the road that sticks and rusts, not that actual chrome that is rusting. just take some good chrome polish and go to town. sometimes i cheat and use 3m window clean in a can, works like magic on chrome.
