How do you take off the exterior door handles on my 97 f150? i want to paint them because they are fading and flaking off. so i was thinking about painting them black...on a red truck...opinions? the tailgate handle is black and i dont think it looks wierd or anything...i was also thinking about paint thing the stock fender flares at the same time because those are doing the same. what do yall think that would look like?

and how about painting the plastic piece on the front bumper black? it is also starting to flake off and fade...and i know i would never be able to color match it on my own...and i dont want to pay to have it painted right now.

i am open to any opinions. please let me know what yall think.

take off the interior door panel, and then with the glass rolled up you can get to the two nuts on the inside of the handles. I think its two 10mm nuts. You will also have to unclip the connecting metal rod that goes to the door latch....
