I havent, though something like that might be in order..

so as you can see from the last picture i posted there is considerable rot on the rocker panel on the passenger's side and i'm looking to order a replacement (bottom side of the door sill) to curb this problem. I have found a couple sites where I may have found the correct part, but if anyone else has some suggestions i'd love to hear em..

i hate those self retaining clips ... it's always the passenger side that is rusted to holy heck ...

The bumper uses them as well; i got them loose enough I was able to sawsall the bolts off ... I would rather replace them outright with new HW than have to every worry again ....

LOL...the biggest part in having a rust problem is admitting to it....So you are half way there....LOL

Seriously though, I had the same problem only with factory molded running boards.....I had to use an angle grinder and cut almost all of the bolts out...I still think I have rust in my eyes! When I started to sand down the rust I went through on both sides of the truck pretty much in the same spots of the rockers. My solution was to use the angle grinder and cut out the cancer. It was approximately 11" on both sides. I then used what they call "kitty hair". It is a fiberglass resin with bits of fiber in it. After it is dried it is as strong as steel. Once I got that all sanded back down, a little smoothing agent I applied my Camo Clad to the rockers......I am satisfied with the results.

The total cost for the project was:

$12 paint/primer
$10 kitty hair
$112 camo clad
and about 2 days of my time (working on it part time)
