Emblem Install

I'm wanting to replace my tailgate emblem. This link shows me how (http://www.fordf150.net/howto/tailgateemblem.php), but what is this "white spirit" he's referring to? And can I use Googone instead or will that mess up my paint? Thanks guys.

To add...

They're tinkering with emblems on a LATE MODEL F-Series truck. I'm noting that you have a 2005 (in your profile)...

This is a different beast.

Also, going to move this one down to Other Body ... it's better suited there.

Anyone got some tips or suggestions on this? Click on the link in the original post, and that's exactly what I'm trying to do with my '05 F-150.

I'm just curious as to if the iron wire strategy will still work on the new models, and where to buy some of that "white spirit" he uses in the link. Or if there is an alternative to the white spirit that I can use such as Googone. I just want to be certain I don't mess up the paint when removing the old glue from the original emblem.

I posted a question similar to this a while back, but never got any real definitive answers. So before I start tinkering with my expensive truck, I'm looking to get some real insight from someone. Come on... one of yall out there has to know about this.

Ryan

Cant help much but I can tell you goo gone will not hurt the paint I have used it to take off dealership badges. I just always take a wet microfiber and wipe any excess away just to make sure. But it will not hurt the paint
