Grille Guard

I finally purchased my grille guard for my '05 SCREW and should have it installed by the weekend. I'll try to post some pics then. Just wanted to know if anyone puts any protectant on the metal to better protect from corrosion? The guard has a 5 year warranty against corrosion, and I heard that you can put a wax on the metal to help protect it. Is this true?

So is it black or chrome?

I don't know about chrome, never had one, but if it's black the powder coat will hold up ok, but you're gonna need to wax it about 4 times a year to keep it from looking dull. They are a pain to wax and I'd always miss spots. When I get one I'm gonna go for some Line-x Xtra and not worry about it. Have ya thought about doing that?

Thanks for the info! I have heard that the LineX is good on the guards and I'll try the wax to help protect it a little better. The guard is black and they say it's covered by 5 year warranty. We'll see.
