Help with Moonroof

I was hoping someone could help me out with this little issue I have on my F150 Super Crew. It has a moon roof. I've searched various forums and technical manuals but have come up short every time.

Here is the problem: If the solid part under the glass is pushed back with too much force, it knocks a 'brace' loose that helps with moving the opaque part and keeping it from being pushed too far back. When this happens, the 'brace' slides freely forward and backward when stopping and starting.

Here are some pics that I will attempt to explain a little further:

In this picture you can see the glass of the moon roof opened and two pieces I think are involved. I have drawn a yellow line to where I think the two are somehow joined. The item on the right of the line is the 'brace' that runs from the drivers side tot he passengers side.

This picture shows the same but you can see at the bottom of the aperture a screw that acts as a stopper for the brace. I have tried tightening the screw but it squeezes the brace out if tightened too hard.

Here is a shot from the back of the truck facing forward:

My question is: Am I missing a part that should hold it together? It looks like something should like the holes at the ends of the line in the picture:

Thanks and have a happy holidays.

I read through this a couple of times and I just am not getting it. I've got an 03 Screw with a moonroof that had failed about 6 months ago. I opened the moonroof and then when I tried to close it, it wouldn't close.

I had to drop the headliner and manually crank it closed. Luckily, it was just a jamming issue. My 3 year old pushed back the visor underneath the glass to far back, so when I opened it, the glass was wedged between the visor and the roof. Dropping the headliner allows you to manually crank it closed. I did that and then upon further investigation, I was able to resolve the issue

What year is your truck and is the moonroof OEM or aftermarket? I know this isn't very helpful but I feel your pain. if you can provide a few more details, I might be able to offer some suggestions. I hate to leave you hanging but I searched everything on this sight when I had my issue and there just really isn't a lot of info on moonroof problems.

Year, OEM or aftermarket. If I have the same moonroof, I could probably snap a few pictures for you when I get home tonight.

I bought the truck used but assume it is OEM.

Right now everything works. But if you, as you mention that your son did, push the visor back too far, it knocks a brace like piece loose that slides forward and backwards. That brace will slide the visor slightly forward, so you can access the handle, when moving the glass back forward to close it. If you open the glass all the way back it takes the visor with it. If the brace is not in place and you move the glass forward, it leaves the visor all the way back and you have to reach your hand back into the space between the headliner and roof to grab the visor.

What I am wondering is if there is supposed to be some sort of connector that souls connect the openings at either end of the yellow line in this picture: http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...3-4377_IMG.jpg

These holes are duplicated on the passengers side.

Let me take a look when I get home and I can try to snap a picture. It won't be until later tonight though... I think I understand what you are saying now.
