I recently bought an '05 FX4 supercrew. It's in excellent condition, however I cannot get the tailgate to quit squeaking during normal travel... I've tried silicone spray, and lube all over without any avail... Any suggestions?

 

I have a 05 of xlt sc 5.4 I do not have tow hooks are they hard to pit om and are the bolt holes already there and how much does a set cost thanks guys

I used Liquid Wrench (I forget the exact one... something "dry" I think) and haven't had the squeak since then (about 6 months ago).

Spray down the hooks and the spinning parts on the tailgate and you should be all set.

 

I would also take the tailgate off and clean and debris from any contact points before lubing it.
