Broken mirror help

I just backed into the garage door and broke a small piece of plastic off of the drivers side outside mirror on my brand new 08 XLT. I have the - Deluxe Mirror Package (61A). Power, heat, turn signal and self dimming. Dealer says $383.

I thought I would be able to buy just the shell but the dealer says it only comes as a complete assembly.

Any ideas? Is there a source for just the shell? Or matching after market? How hard is to get the inside door pannel off to get at the mirror mounts. Where can I find instructions?

Thanks for any help.

Check around at salvage yards, or even on ebay. You should be able to find one pretty reasonably priced on ebay for sure...

broken mirror

None on Ebay. Dealer says they are an 07 and 08 part only. Kind of limits the junk yard search.

If interested it is TASCA Ford in R.I. The guy sent me a card , his name is Domenic St. Angelo and ph. number is direcrt - 401-681-1207 and cell is 401-681-1302. Give them a call and see if he can help.
