tail gate handle locks

tail gate handle locks

i have a 03 f150, and lately i try to open the tail gate and it is locked.
i unlock it, and it seems to lock it self.
any ideas

mine does that too! its hella annoying but just lift up on the handle hard and slowly it will work. when you jam it fast it some how locks the tailgate atleast thats what mine does...

Just take the inside access panel off and readjust the linkage, that should take care of it. My dad's 250 does the same thing, but he likes it, keeps the tailgate locked and a little harder to steal.

The actual piece that locks or unlocks the gate inside the panel is only made out of plastic. Mine did that on me just from slamming the gate a little hard.
