Loose door mirrors
Loose door mirrors
Is there a way to tighten up the mirror assembly on F150. Drivers side bounces a lot. I can move it easily by hand. Do the same on the passenger side and it does not move at all. Bad roads and the mirror dances all over the place. Since this mirror folds in, it appears to be working on some kind of tension device or spring. I see a plastic cover on the bottom of the assembly which makes me think if I pop it out, I may have access to some sort of adjustment. Spring and nut possibly? But the cover will not come off and I don't want to break it. Am I heading the right direction?
You mean the shell of the mirror, say where some have body color? Mines a 2000 and has a loose shell on the passenger side, I'm thinking you'd have clips to release behind the actual mirroe itself. Move it to acess them and I think it pops off. I don't think you ought to pry that cover off just yet. I've been meaning to fix this for years on mine, waiting for better advice on removal though. Anywhere else, I copuldn't say except that the door panel may have to come off to tighten those screws from the inside, can't say for sure where you'd need them.

The glass is fine it is the enclosure around the glass. this is the part of the mirror that folds in. I believe there must be a way to tighten it up to reduce the bouncing of the entire housing. 2005 F150 R/C
