A.R.E. Tonneau Installation Question

I've gotten a lot of good information from this site, but this is my first post so bear with me.
I had an A.R.E. LSII tonneau installed on my '06 F150 today by a local dealer. Time didn't allow me to examine the fit as well as I would have liked before leaving the dealer. When I got home and examined it, it looks like it is mounted too high in the hinge area which causes the overhang to be 3/4 to 1" away from the truck bed when it is closed. The fit is OK towards the back and OK over the tailgate but looks bad in the front. I haven't been able to find anywhere that it says the plastic bed rails that come stock need to be removed before the installation, but the dealer left them on and I think maybe thats why it is too high. Help.

I've got an '06 Scab...with an LSll as well....mine fits like a glove.. over the bed rail covers..no gaps anywhere..I'd go back to your dealer and recheck the positioning...I've had ARE caps on all of my trucks for 10 years ...never had anything go wrong nor had any trouble with the dealers....good luck

I have an ARE LSII as well on mine. I like it and it fits pretty well. Been on the truck for 3 years now.
My question is, did they put a foam strip in between the tonneau rail and the bed? Mine has it and I'm pretty sure it is meant to help keep the water out and not damage the bed rails. However, my foam strip is starting to suffer with the elements here in England and it is allowing water to leak in at the corners by the cab. Is there someplace I can get replacement foam strips short of buying sheets of foam and cutting them out?

Yes, ARE started putting a foam "gasket" around the inside rim of their caps..I believe in 05...my old ARE didn't have this gasket and dust/dirt would filter into the bed...with my new cap...nothing gets in the bed...they also have a "carpeted" inside top that is a perfect match to the bed rug...with the bed rug running up the inside of the tailgate....there are no gaps anywhere for water/dust/dirt to get inside the bed area...looks great..stays clean

Sounds like what happened to me .I was pissed. The place i got it did the same thing . they were even a dealer. I just adjusted it myself . You'd think if these dealer would be more trained in the install of these covers .I even e-mailed A R E and nothing happened . The place i got mine couldn't even clean it up. i had just wash my truck before i had it install expecting it to be clean
NOT! OH ! I was pissed !!!

A R E 's got a super nice product but they need better dealer installing there PRODUCTS!!!!!!!!!!!! Picture in my profile of the gap between my bed and cover And, the plactic trim is still on my truck you dont have to remove it .
