Tailgates made of?

Well I got my first dent in my truck last week, and the sad part is, I did it! Thats probably a good thing so I didn't hurt anyone. Anyways, I was told that Paintless Dent Repair would cost around 80-120 and then today they charged me $150 saying the tailgate was aluminum and not sheet metal like the rest of the truck??????

Stating it was much harder to get out....

They did a great job and you can not even tell at all where the dent was but I don't like the idea of someone taking advantage of me...

Anyone know????

My 1999 has an aluminum hood but, all other sheetmetal is steel, including the tailgate.

What year is your truck?
Is it a flareside?
The flareside has a outer fiberglass bed due to the extreme curving.

Do you own, or have access to, a magnet?

My tailgate

My truck is a 2006 FX4 F150...

I just think the guy was making it up as to why he was charging more since it was a lot more then originally expected.

If it was aluminum, it would be harder because aluminum is softer. It would be like driving in a nail with a sledgehammer. However, I doubt they would use aluminum for the tailgate.
