OK. Installed my Recon Smoked LED 3rd brakelamp and noticed this.

This has texture and feels like a window rash. It is on the outside of the glass.

Anyone know what caused this?

I have the brakelight to show the size in reference.

No it is like the blistering of heated plastic but I thought the outer glass was glass, not a safety film or something.

 

have you tried scratching it off?

 

Did you transport anything metal or very hard with it leaning against the glass?

 

I feel like a dope. I rubbed it with all kinds of stuff, scratched with my fingernail and wouldn't come off. I finally found a razor and came right off. I think it was bed liner overspray. I never even noticed it till the other day.

It was black even on the thinnest parts and semi-pliable. I am guessing the bedliner spray in.
