Slooooooow squeaky window

My passenger window has been rediculously slow lately, and it seems to be getting slower and slower each day. Not only that, but it squeaks and grinds like there's sand down in the track or something....

My brother's truck (a 1999 F-250 with a V10) has windows that are so fast I swear the extra two cylinders are completely dedicated to the windows.

Anyway, anyone know a way to fix this? Could I spray some WD-40 down in the track or something? That stuff never fails on everything else....

See my sig for truck info.

Thanks.

My 98 did that. Was slow going down to about half way then it got slower... My dealer cleaned, adjusted, lubed and the replaced some parts. Only wish I could remember what it was they did.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but might want to look for a TSB. I sort of remember there being one, which required my 3 visits to get them to properly fix the dumb problem.

hey my 98 F150 does the same thing. the passanger side is very slow going down, but normal speed going back up. My driver side made a noise when it was cold out, but dosent now. I got an extended warranty from the dealership that i bought the truck from, and it covers the power window motors. I wonder if that is what the problem is - i really want to get my window fixed too! let us know what you find out!!

Thanks,
John

I had the same issue on my 99 F150 .. I ended up just replacing the motor and lubricating all the moving parts, worked like a charm!

I just went through this with my 06.

It was being pinched by the window molding / weather stripping. Over time it even caused the molding to move up, creating a gap at the bottom and a buckle where the molding turns the corner on the door.

It almost wouldnt go up at all before I had the molding replaced...now its faster than the drivers window...which I'll be keeping an eye on.

I just talked about this with my dealer about my 2006 f150 drivers side window working veeeery sloooow. He said it's the cheap belt Ford used and it will be replaced free. He went on to say they are having problems with this belt breaking when the window is up and what happens is the window falls inside the door and breaks. He says it's a bitch to fix at that point....

Slow window

I had the same problem with the drivers side. Long story short and 3 trips later, they found the track to be cracked and had to replace it.

Interesting development...

I was lubricating all my truck door hinges and latches with household oil, and after I was done I went to roll the windows up and shut the doors and the window zoomed right up!

Maybe some oil leaked into the window track....

I must be mechanically retarded because I dont understand how you can replace the motor when 80 percent of the door is covered when you pull of the panel. the motor is all the way on the other side which would make it virtually impossible to replace. It looks like the motor is riveted in.

Anyone have a BKM(best known method) to take off and replace the motor?

Thanks,

Norris

I thought that they could remove the steel panel thats hiding the glass, if not I guess they work with the space they have & manage, my old '01 F150 Supercrews rear windows were quick, but the fronts were sluggish, especially the drivers door, it groan so loudly that in public I never put the window down I was planning to replace both motors & run some WD40 in the tracks. My '99 5.4L F250s front door windows are quick as hell too lol,

What i always do is take the door paneling off and clean, check, and grease everything in the door, it has always worked for me.
