I have an '07 S'crew XLT with the black honeycomb grille. I like the black FX4 grille and have been thinking of looking around for one. I've never seen one up close though. It almost looks like it's an insert that sits in front of the regular honeycomb grille. Is that all it is, or is it its own 1-piece unit?

 

It does not fit over the honeycomb. It is a 1-piece insert to the chrome/colored surround. You may be able to get the insert off ebay or from the classifieds here. Or you can buy the whole thing from Ford. I purchased the honeycomb to replace my FX4 grille. It was prepainted the correct color, just 10 bolts hold the whole grill section on. Takes about 15 mins to R&R.

 

Ahhh OK. Looking on Ebay I found 3 of them, all for about $40 plus shipping. Good to keep in mind, but I have other things I need to do first.
