Rusty Underside...

Since my truck came from up north, it has a bit of rusty **** on the underside due to rock salt, etc. would it be wise to sand all that off and repaint everything? or would that be just a huge waste of time, and the rust would return? i live in fl now, and there is no rock salt, snow, etc.

You could just get a couple cans of Rustoleum and spray paint it... as it stops the rust. No need to sand.

I would try and clean it up some (don't go too overboard) and then hit it up with some black rustoleum, and then I would spray the underside with Westley's rubberized under spray for a uniform, clean look (and future protection).

I clean mine up for big car shows and such and even shine the entire underside with a mix of wd40 and tire shine by hand. It looks so clean you could eat off of it!

Ziebart

I had a truck that had the same rust as yours. I took it to my local Ziebart and had them rustproof it. I would just get the undercoating. They will spray a chemical that kills the rust then apply the undercoating.

I've always had mine oil sprayed underneath and inside the doors etc. This is due to our no shortage of roadsalt Ontario winter, and the fact we live over a salt mine. This oil comes either dripless or drip, pros and cons of each but Ziebart or someone down there ought to do it. Otherwise you may have to spray bomb oil undercoat yourself. I wouldn't worry about sanding and painting, undercoating stops rust and covers it pretty good.
