Has anyoone tryed this? It's suppose to make the tailgate work very easy opening and closing. A torsion bar that mounts on the gate and body.

I try mine all the time. The 2004 and up trucks come stock with it. They do work great!

Are you talking about the torsion bar assist that makes it easier to close, or the gas shocks that you can install so the tailgate lowers itself.
I just ordered the www.ezdown.com from ebay. They have a couple minute video on this website of thme installing it on a 04+ F-150. Nice video.

The torsion bar install is not a strut. It takes the weight off to make it easier like the new models.

Sounds good I'm going to try it. Soon as it warms up a little.

I installed it today. Easy install (2 people). Works great. Probably like the new models. Good cheap mod for older ones.

I just bought one on Ebay. It was about $30 shipped. Tried the local TSC, but they had to order it, and I had to pay shipping. Hopefully I won't have to worry about the gate killing one of my kids anymore

Good luck with it. I really like it. Takes off a lot of weight. Have someone help you to put it on. You have to twist the gate to get the rod in the hole. The instructions are right on.

Ordered mine from ebay. Recieved it in three days. Fifteen minute install on 2007 screw. Absolutly great, everyone with small kids should have it. It is hard to believe it does not come as a standard item.

Mine took a lot longer than 15 minutes to install. I could not get the darn tailgate off. It's never been off in 10 years. The plastic bushings on both sides were giving me fits. I need to go back and replace them so the gate will fit right.

Once the gate was off, it was about 15 minutes. Two holes to drill. I coated them with grease to prevent rust. The rod works as advertized. The gate is much lighter, but the bar could be even a little stronger for my truck. I did chip a little paint, so I'd recomend plenty of masking tape if you care about yours.
