noisy doors on 94 f150
noisy doors on 94 f150
I have a 94 f150 and the doors don't seem to be quite lined up correctly and I am getting a lot of wind noise. Does any one know how to get them to fit correctly and tight?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Yes, it's called "aligning" them. The Haynes manual (PN 36058 w/light blue cover) describes how, but it's not easy. You have to swing the back edge of the fender out to access the front bolt on each hinge & it can take a LOT of trial & error, even if you know exactly what you're doing. Plus, you have to be able to lift the weight of the door, hold it in position, & tighten a bolt at the same time. Patient assistants make it easier, but they're SCARCE!
.
Basically, you align the STRIKE bolt first (the post at the back that the latch grabs) so the door is perfectly aligned with the body line, and pressed against the seal when the gap is right. Then, you move to the hinges & make it so the door is already aligned with the strike bolt just before it hits, AND it's centered in the opening, AND it's pressed against the seal at the front, AND at the top. Then you have to realign the fender to the door, but that's much easier.
I just had to do all that (& more) to this truck.
