we rinsed out the bed of the truck after a load of sand. now the tailgate won't open. you can lift the handle up all the way, but it wont budge.

not sure but is there an access panel to get to the back of the tailgate handle? I guess the real question is do you have a bed liner and the tailgate cover? If so youll have to remove the tailgate liner to get to the access panel then you should be able to pull the rods to get the gate open. Hope this helps.

 

yes, we have bedliner and tailgate cover. do you have pics of what to do when liner is off tailgate?

no pics but once you get that cover off youll see the access panel on the tailgate that gives you access to the back side of the handle. You can try to spray the hose towards the latches on both sides or you may be able to use a pair of pliers to pull the rods that open the latchs on each side of the tailgate. One thing I forgot to ask does the tailgate lock? IF so make sure its unlocked before you pull the tailgate apart.
