Major Lock Problem (not actuator related)

Hey guys,

A while back, someone tried to break into my 99 XLT Supercab. They tried breaking in thru the driver side door. It appears that they took a screwdriver to the keyhole and ravaged the hell out of it.

Consequently, the key tumbler mechanism fell into the door frame, and the power locks do not operate on the driver side any longer.

My question: Is this something that can be repaired by the lay-person, or would the locks (and ignition?) need to be replaced and re-keyed?

As always, any feedback is apprecated.

Thanks!

Just the lock should be replaced. Take it to the dealer, and they should be able to re-key it to your keys.
