removing tailgate lock

I need to remove the entire locking mechanism from my tailgate on a '99 f150 to place in a new one. Im sure there is a quick and simple way to do so. Any advise/how to would be greatly appreciated.

i done this to paint the lock, i used kyrlon paint. it is a easy job. the panel has four screws, a clip or two and your good togo.
