Lambo Doors

I know that most traditional p/u owners would be set against this, but I am a 25 yr old in college now after spending 6yrs in the army and 18mo in combat. This is a fun thing you may only get to do once in your life, so I did it. I hope you guys enjoy. Here's the link:https://www.f150online.com/galleries....cfm?num=11062

When they begin to sag, and come off track, please don't cry.

That's most god awful thing you could do to a truck.

But it's your truck, and good luck with it.

Well in reply to the god awful comment, everyone seems to think it's pretty cool I don't plan on owning the truck forever and considering all the attention from the ladies thusfar, it's been a good investment. And in reply to the seal question, They do infact seal like factory, but I am gonna have to take my moon visor off because they contact it if you don't keep a slight downward pressure on them when you open the doors. What's really nice about these kits is that they are usually adjustable in 3-5 positions, so if you're not happy with it, all you have to do is make those adjustments. And if they begin to sag, there is a very simple adjustment to fix that too. I actually have them go a little lower so that they clear that moon visor for now. Thanks for the posts guys cause I love the feedback (good or bad)

I like it...

Did you do it yourself, or have a shop do it?

I'd like to have these in the front, and somehow suicide style some for the rear doors, like the old Lambo "Portifino" concept car... the front had to be opened to access the rear...

Sweet -highly unique (to the truck world) mod.

They look sweet... I like em. I've seen them around, on cars, but never quite understood how they work... do they have some kind of assistance for the lift?... do they pop out then up?

Anyways, good job, looks real nice.

What kit are you using? How much was the cost of the setup not including install? I want to add some more flair to my truck. Thanks

Okay, sorry I have been so sporatic. Thanks for the positive imput guys. The way the door functions is that you have to open it out about 30 degrees or so and simply lift up. There is a gas filled shock that asists you in opening them vertically, but it's hard as hell to pull down at first. You kinda have to "break it in", but other than that, you just lower it, and close it back into your stock latches. That way, the only thing you have to replace is the hinge. The procedure is pretty simple and straight forward too. Remove the fender (way easier than I thought it would be cause I've never done it before), tape the door in place, remove the old hinges, replace with new hinge, have assistant lift door to install shock, make nescisary adjustments, cut part of the inner fender for hinge clearance, reinstall fender and it's done. If I knew how to post images, I would show you a pic of the hinge installed w/the fender off to give you an idea. I actually used an ebay kit and I would have to say that it is a little flimsy in the wind, but I'm a student and working on a student budget. If you can afford a sturdier kit that will run around $2,000, then more power to you. I got mine for $435 or so. I am willing to live with a little flimsyness to the system for the ammount of fun I've already had. So, thanks again for the interest. Feel free to ask any more questions because I'd be happy to answer them. Good luck guys.

Dude, 18 months in combat says you can do whatever the hell you want with your truck, and that has got to be the sweetest mod I've seen on this forum since I joined.

It looks much better than a "god awful" stock F150 with factory rims driven by a guy who sucks up half of his payload just sitting in it
