Toolbox+Atv?
Toolbox+Atv?
I have some tools I need to carry and a few tow straps I need to carry and I dont want to have them laying in the cab because I have a subbox under my whole rear seat and an amp under the driver seat and a jack under the passenger so does anyone have any pictures of an atv in the back of the truck with a tool box in a safe way that is secure? I would like the tailgate to be up but I can do without it. Please tell me what kind of toolbox it is, how much it was and where you got it? or how you setup the atv in the truck
sorry i dont have pics. But imo weather guard has the best aluminum tool boxes, I have the aluminum diamond plate style and paid about 450 for it. And as the atv goes it depends on what type it is and the style of the truck. I have the extended cab (97) model short bed and i can fit a honda rubicon or honda 450 ex in the back with the tail gate down. I have also and a honda 450r (racing style) in the truck with the tailgate up but I had the front wheels on the toolbox , and I never had a problem with this set up running about 75 mph. just make sure you have a towel or piece of rubber on the toolbox top so it wont get scratched up.
the next time ill have load them up ill snap a photo for you.
when it comes to toolboxes you get what you paid for, on my other truck i had a cheap 200$ box that got dented easily and shut hard, after 3 months i gave it away a coughed up to 450 for a weather guard.

I made a custom rail and small tote box for my truck I use. I may make some to sell if you are interested. See the album in my gallery!

You may want to look at over the rail side boxes or saddle boxes with a 6.5 ft bed that is the only way you will get a toolbox and atv in and close the bed.
Black Hawk is exactly right. Weather Guard, Adrian Steel, and few others make great boxes that all cost around $500. The $200 boxes dent easy, don't latch, and don't seal. You get what you pay for.
Hope this helps!

Not sure the brand of my toolbox, it's a diamond plate, gull wing box that was part of a "Diamond Plate" package my dealer put on the truck before we bought it. I don't have any pix of the setup but our Yamaha Grizzly 660 fits with the tailgate down and I have the 8' bed. Never had any problems with it riding like that though.
