Squeeky Wiper Blades, Driving Me Nuts
Okay, on my Explorer I have a set of Bosch Teflon wiper blades. The driver side one constantly squeeks halfway up on its first wipe. It drives me freakin NUTS!!!! I just had a new windshield installed and im always cleaning it and it still squeeks. The only time it doesnt is immediately after a rain-x application. But as soon as it rains, SQUEEK! I just dont know what to do anymore. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks. Justin
I'm no expert at this subject but they could be removing moisture TOO well and leaving no lubrication between the wiper blade and the window. But honestly I've never used Teflon wiper blades before. But I have experienced squeeky blades when new. Usually goes away after a few weeks. Good luck.
Yeah, ive had them over a month. Ive even tried switching the wiper blades between passanger and driver side, no luck. Your theory is probably right though, wiping a little too well. Thanks!

The Rain-X is your problem. It ruins wiper blades. I used to have the same problem and asked what I could do. The first question that was asked of me was "Do you use Rain-X?" I quit using it and don't have any problems anymore.
You should see what that stuff does to a motorcycle windsheild. It makes them hard and brittle. A good impact from a bird or rock and they will shatter.
Just remember that if you don't strip off the rai-X it will keep happening until it wears off. I'm not a big fan of those teflon things either. They get dried out in the sun really fast

Interesting.
Well, they emailed me back. They are sending me a free pair, I got my choice of Teflon or the Exact Fit. I went with the Exact Fit, whatever those are. Except I just realized that mine are Bosch and I emailed Trico. Oops. :o

That's because Rain-X is for GLASS, not plastic. It says right on the bottle to NOT get it on plastic. They make a different one specifically for plastics. Plastic is not the same thing as glass.
I've been using Silblades on my windshields with rain-X applied once a year, and rain-x solvent all the time for more than 5 years on both of my vehicles. I occasionally have a little squeak, but again, it's when the wiper works so well that it's rubber on glass.
Rain-X is the best thing to happen to glass since Windex!!

Worth a shot huh??
