Last week my spare tire cable let go while driving to work at about 35MPH. The tire flipped under the truck on the way out, hit the trailer hitch, and launched the rear of the truck a few feet in the air. Scared the crap out of me AND the guy behind me......Anyone else ever hear of this one? The cable apparently pulled out of the end clip judging from the clean strand ends, with no actual frayed cable. The tire went flat, and I had to pull it off the aluminum wheel, clean the bead surface area and remount it. The night before, I was running down the highway at 70 on my way home from a friends. I shudder to think what the result would have been if it had happened then....
