Question Power Windows Loose in Tracks???

Little help here... My power windows on my '97 ext cab sound like they're loose in the tracks. When I push the button to roll them down, they shift a little from side to side and make an awful loud sound like something's hitting the glass just as they start and just when you start them from the top. When you start rolling them down from being already 1/2 way down, they don't make the sound... When you roll them up, no sound there either. Any ideas?

Thanks guys!!!

my wife and I had a little bit of a problem with this in our explorer. Bottom line: It was a broken window bracket and needed replacement.

Sounds like a problem I had on a 96 Windstar. When I took off the interior door panel, I found a track just laying in the bottom of the door. The track was supposed to be supporting the back edge of the window when it goes up and down. The track clips in at the top of the door and then the bottom has a mounting bracket that bolts in at the bottom of the door. There were two spot welds that attached the track to the mounting bracket. The spot welds rusted out.

If this is the same problem you have, take the track and pull back the rubber lining. Next drill out the spot welds on the track and on the bracket. Reattach the bracket to the track using pop rivets. Reassemble and your good to go.

Hope this helped.
