The gap in my front bumper sickens me.

If this has been asked/posted before, I apologize is advance.....

The gap in my front bumper sickens me. Is there a way to close that gap, or make it tighter? ...and if so, is it a pain in the butt to do? Here's a picture.....it's noticeable from a distance.

thnx in advance.....

sorry dude, don't think there is any way close it up unless you start hacking away at the mounts and brackets. If you are not familiar with autobody then yes it can be a nightmare.

You finally got a response! Whew. I started to tell you that it does not show on black trucks.

That's absolutely true - that gap is so much more unnoticeable when it's in black.

Of course you could always Bondo it together but be ready for lots of problems with cracking. Of course, if you drive through the Barrio, you'll see lots of failed attempts where Bondo didn't quite do it.

I'm afraid there's nothing else you can do other than to buy a new 2005 STX :-)

Yes you can close the gap between the grill surround and the bumper, because I've done it. The easiest way to do it is to remove the grill surround, which isn't too difficult, then when that is out of the way you will be able to see the 2 brackets that hold the bumper to the frame (one on the right side and one on the left side). Loosen but do not remove the bolts, once you do that you can simply slide the entire bumper assembly upwards. The only part that sucks about doing this is you won't have the grill surround in place to see if you closed the gap enough. What I did was trial and error until I had it right. Slide the bumper up and just tighten the top bolts enough so that it doesn't slide back down. Install the grill surround and if the gap is closed, tighten up the bumper bolts and you're done. If not, take off the grill surround and try again. I did this before and it only took less than 30 mins. Anymore questions feel free to ask.
