door lock

Well, someone tried to break into my 97 f-150 the other night and now I can't fit a key into the drivers side key hole. Good thing I have keyless entry. My question is, can ford with the right info send me a lock that will already match my key? What are my other options? Thanks for the help!!!

Don't Bother With The Dealer!!!

First off to your question... Yes, with your vin number the dealer could actually order you a lock that is keyed to your existing key.. but wait. As a third generation locksmith I can tell you that it would be much cheaper to have a local locksmith do the work for you and they can most likely repair your existing lock. If you can remove the lock yourself and take it to the locksmith yourself you also will save money by not paying for the service call fee and/or extra labor costs. Getting to the lock consists of nothing more then removing your door panel unclipping the locking rod and removing a retaining clip...presto, you are good to go. Let me know how it turns out.
