rattling squeaking 3rd door
I have a 2000 Ford F150 5.4L supercab 4X4 which had a rattling/squeaking rear passenger "suicide" door. I could pull on the door with the front passenger door open and you could hear it creak loudly. When I was drivign and hit bumps it would drive me crazy because it sounded like a rattle. I lubricated everything you could think of with no luck until I got a new idea.... A closer look showed that the bottom trim on the plastic interior door moulding (piece that the map pocket is molded into) was rubbing against the metal on the door when it moved causing a loud creak. Lubricating it didn't help so I tried something else. I removed the plastic interior door panels and placed one sided strips of velcro (soft side with the loops only) on the metal part of the door where the plastic panel meets the metal door and WHALA!~ no more creaking or rattling. She rides quiet and smooth again! Just wanted to share this little trick since it worked so well for me. If you have any more questions on how I did this you can e-mail me and I will help you out the best that I can.
