Front Grill mod...need help!
Hello everyone.
I have been on this site for some time and have enjoyed the discussions. There is a lot of information here, and for that I am glad I joined!!
Anyway, the reason I posted was to get help/advice about modifying my front grill. Has anyone removed and/or painted the stock grill ?? I was thinking of making the honeycombed grill on my Lariat black, and changing my Ford emblem to Arizona Beige metallic and Chrome (don't like the blue oval).
EDIT: I have a 2004 Ford. I found information on removing a pre-2004 grill, but nothing for newer trucks. Thanks!
Any advice on removing the grill?
Would I be better off buying a new grill and installing it?
Are there grill overlays that I could paint black and install?
Thanks, in advacne, for your help!

zamboni,
what's up. alright, i just did my wife's expy and it is pretty much the same procedure. first you'll have to remove those plastis screw looking things locking the fan shroud onto the grill. then pull out the head lights cause there is a screw or two behind them holding the grill in place. then there is two locking clips, maybe four, not too sure right now, but anyway, they are on the bottom of the front grill shroud, that big 'ol peice of plastic that houses your lights and grill. pop them and the shroud sould come right off. the grill itseld is in place by locking clips. i had to cut a few off and rivet the new grill to the top of the fiber glass fan shroud. once you get off the front end piece, you'll see what i'm talking about. it is really simple, took about 30 to 45 minutes to do by myself. hope it helps man! willie

Willie,
Problem is, my grill is attached to the hood (2004+) and the only mount I can see is on the top of the grill near the hood, then there are a number of plastic tabs holding the "honeycomb" grill inside the framed chrome grill piece. I can't figure how to liberate the honeycomb piece to paint it....
Anyone else?

I searched in the 2004-2005 F150 forum for "grill". You just have to look at the headers and pick what looks like it is what you are looking for.

Thank you for the help! Due to the 5 links above, I was able to locate a black waffle grill, so I'm going to replace the grill instead of painting the one I have (just in case) *LOL*
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Just a WHOLE lot of screws... took mine loose to put in the bug sheild, and took them a little to far out.
There are a few locating pins, and a few nuts and bolts. Pretty straight forward. Word of warning, leave the front / back sloted ones to tighten last.
BTW, been looking around for some black trim for the back edge of the doors so I don't have to worry about chipping the edge. Walked back in the trim and detail section of a local truck stop and found a 250' spool... got a few feet and slipped it on in the parking lot.
Would post a pic but I haven't figured out how yet.
