I looked into the unit but did not buy it. It looks to be good quality. I did not buy it for one reason; and that is the only way to keep it closed is to lock it with the key. So if you are working from your truck and want to keep things covered, you would be constantly having to fiddle with the key. I wound up buying a Jason fiberglass lid. It can be opened and closed with use of a key (unless of course you really want to lock it.) Disadvantage of this unit is the fairly difficult removal if you want to haul something large.

Hi Bob,
I have a Pace Edwards Roll Top cover, and I like it very much. I have not had any major problems with it only some squeeking when opening the cover and the lock being difficult in winter. Some G96 gun cleaner/lubricant in the tracks and WD40 in the lock cured both problems.

A couple of other roll top manufacturers are Roll and Lock and Retrax, you might want to look into them also.

I like the roll tops because the fiberglass lids are to heavy to remove with only one person and I didn't think a soft cover would be secure enough for my purposes.

I would recommend a roll top cover.

Thanks Hobbit
Where did you purchase your top? Did you install it or did you have the dealer?
Thanks FishonSH

Well, I'm from Joisey and it was installed at a PE autherized dealer in Tom's River NJ.
To be honest I wanted to install it myself but PE would not cover it under warrenty unless one of their dealers did the install. Plus, it was February and about 20 degrees so I opted for the dealer install. Well I wasn't 100% satisfied with the install, they drilled an extra hole in the canister cover(misaligned) that I didn't notice till I got home(1 hr away) and it wasn't adjusted right by the tailgate, but I managed to ajust and tweek it a bit to fit better.
Now PE sells the covers with the j-clamps so you can do the install yourself. That wasn't available when I got mine.
Still overall I am satisfied with this cover.
Just keep in mind that it's not 100% watertight, I get 2-3 cups of water in at the tailgate at the car wash. You can get something called the Gate Gasket from Retrax to help in this area, I was going to get one myself.
Good luck with whatever cover you decide to get.
