Post Door Crack Fix Scheduled

I have a 1997 F250 Lariat LD with cracks on both doors. Talked to my dealer last week and he is in the process of scheduling me for the door crack fix.

Anything that I should be aware of before the fix is made? Anything to make sure they do / don't do once they start?

yes, you should note if the windows are working properly and that they do when they're done the repairs........I just reported my drivers side door being cracked, the dealer is ordering my fix kit now. I have a 2000 XLT supercab shortbed, deep wedgewood blue and I didn't notice the crack till I waxed over it last weekend. I was pissed, I've been reading about it on here and thought Ford had it fixed by now,but I guess they are just now getting it taken care of. Good luck with your repairs, hope there a permenent fix.

Unhappy

I had my doors repaired on my 97 ext. cab on 01 May 01 and they reinstalled the "L" shaped moulding where the window meets the door to soon, and the paint wrinkled. about two weeks later the wrinkles became larger. I took the truck back to Freedom Ford in Norfolk VA where the initial repair was made and they agreed they had put the moulding on too soon after the new paint had been applied. Make sure they let the paint cure for " an appropriate" amount of time before reinstalling the exterior pieces or you will be bringing your truck back just like me! The body shop manager at Freedom has been very nice about the whole thing and seems to want to make it right! And this time they are providing me with a rental.

FordTruckFan, I also have a 2000 XLT supercab. When did you first notice the door cracks? I have had my truck since 11/99 and haven't noticed anything yet.

Mine is a '97 F-150 with 35,000 miles.

I took it to a local dealer last week and asked for two new doors although I can only see the crack on the driver's door.

At this point I don't even want to screw around with any of their fixes as they all seem doomed to fail.

They were gracious and agreed to forward my request to Ford through the area rep.

All of which means absolutely nothing unless they actually give me the new doors.

Anyone heard anything new on the class action lawsuit?
