Tailgate locking by itself
I closed my tailgate the other day and when I immediately went to reopen it, I couldn't. The handle lifts like it is locked, but my key will not turn the locking mech. to unlock it.
This has happened before, usually I don't do anything to it to make it work again. It just starts working like normal.
How do I get into the back to unlock the tailgate manually?

Inside the tailgate there is an access panel. There are 6 or 8 screws that hold it in place. Remove the access panel and viola!

this happened to a trade in on my lot--open the accsess panel and you will find a broke or out of place retaining clip holding a rod or a bent rod. Tough to decribe you'll know what I'm saying when you get the panel off.
