Question Squeaking in the Steering wheel

I have a 2005 F 150 XLT 5.4 Triton Supercab. I've recently starting noticing a squeaking in the steering wheel area. The sound kinda makes a plastic on plastic noise. The dealer says that they cannot reproduce the sound, but that it should go away over time. (thats funny, can't reproduce it but it will go away over time!) Has anyone had a similiar happening? The vehicle currently has 1350 miles on it. Any ideas?

power Steering

I doubt its your power steering are you'd probably know it . However my father and i Both own new f150s, mines and 05 and his is and 04. living in fairbanks we do deal with extremes and a few weeks back the tempature droped to a -50 below my fathers power steering went bad almost immediately and went to the dealer with a busted hose. mine went bad a week later and according to the tech who fixed my truck i was like the 50th person with that problem. the dealership here blamed the 50 below weather. I doubt this helps you but it might be of some intrest anyway.

steering squek

have 97 ford f150 that used to squeak when turning wheels, have heard numerous fords do it . Problem is there are no grease fittings for the front end. I purchased a grease gun and bought a needle fitting for it. I puncuted it into the bushings in the front end and shot some grease. took care of problem

clarification

The sounds that I'm getting are coming from the cab, just around the steering wheel/column. It sounds like plastic on plastic when I turn the steering wheel. I was just wondering if anybody knew of a way to pull the steering wheel and make an "adjustment" to stop the sqeaking.

I had the front-end squeak in my '97 also. There are grease fittings on all except the driver side. Doesn't make any sense. Had a friend use his grease gun and fill it up with the needle attatchment, squeak is gone. If you get under to check for the squeak, you might as well check your tie-rod ends too.

Glad I found this thread... I have the same screeching sound in my steering column. I thought the power steering was going to go at first, but checked everything out and it looks and sounds fine in the engine compartment. The noise is only inside the cab.
For those that are puncturing bushings with a needle fitting: where exactly are you putting the grease?
Thanks!

I think you guys are getting off base here, the squeaking is definantly coming from the steering wheel area. As stated before, it sounds like a plastic on plastic sound. The dealer stated that his 04 LXT has made the same sound in the past too. Is there a way to remove the steering wheel and lube any of the seals, bushings, etc...?

Hope someone has an answer for this. My wife's Chrysler LHS has developed the same problem. It's not outside, it's the dad-blame steering wheel! I tried squirting some teflon spray in there, but so far the only solution is to turn the radio up louder.
