Question replacing the ignition actuator

I am in the process of replacing the ignition actuator in my 1989 f150. It has a manual transmission. Can someone explain to me how to get the actuator inside the tilt mechanism. Do I have to disassemble it to do so? I would apppreciate any help on this subject.

The entire upper steering collumn has to be disassembled to replace. You will also need to remove the tilt pivot pins as well (you will need a pin puller for those). Then you can remove the broken actuator parts & replace.
