Post OEM Honeycomb grille

FoMoCo is getting $275 for the OEM honeycomb grille (Lariat, 4x4) thru the parts department. Well, on a lark, I took a little trip on EBAY to find these grilles and loa and behold, they were there!! They can be purchased for around $40 plus $15 for shipping. Check it out.

Has anyone tried painting their OEM grilles? I've seen them in black and they look much better than the silver they come in.

I was going to have my grille painted amazon green to match my truck. The Ford dealer would paint it for about $80, which I thought was acceptable. But I decided against it. Mainly because I had a hard time getting my grille off.

Not that difficult to remove. I did mine and painted it Bright red (E4) to match the main color of my Truck. Do a search of the boards here and you will find all of my earlier messages on this as well of those of others. If you try to paint it while still on the truck -- you cant get anywhere near as a good of a job. You can paint it from all angles including from the backside with it removed.
