Question Scratches

Got a couple of minors paint scratches and don't really want to go to the expense of touch up. Anybody know if this color match "scratch remover" really works or just a bunch of hype?

when my explorer (nickname) "Eddie" (Eddie Bauer edition). got scratched by some little bastards in the Wal Mart parking lot I took it to my local detailing shop. He said they weren't that bad and that he might be able to buff them out. I had him give it a whirl and he buffed out most of the scratches, the rest I fixed after my accident. Insurance company picked up that tab.

Hey Smokey,

I had many bush scratches down both sides of my truck.I thought my paint job was toast, until a friend of mine put me on to a guy who does cut polishing.Talked to this guy and decided to have it done.I figured it was worth a shot.I had it done yesterday, and wow.You could put my truck in a showroom and no one would know it was used.It literally looked brand new.Rule of thumb is if you can catch your finger nail on the scratch it probably wont cut out.You also need a guy who knows what he is doing. My guy had 17 years in the buissness. It cost me 200.00 Canadian,Which is about 50.00 US(LOL Isn't it?)That also included a bit of pinstriping. All glass polished. All lenses. All tires and rims. And all ext vinyl, mouldings and bumpers. Not one regret.Worth every penny.Don't fret over scratches until you talk to a pro detailer.Hope this helps.

Well I guess it all depends on how big the scratsches are and how deep they are. As of today I just tried Turte Wax's Color Cure w/ chipstick and seemed to work for me pretty good. Most of my scratches were minor and the longest one that I used the chipstick on was about 3 inches. Then I had one really deep one on the tailgate and the shipstick covered/filled them in pretty good. I then used the the bottle of wax over the whole truck and man it really looked good. I can't say that the shine was as good as using Mothers, Meguirs, or definetly not Zaino but it wasn't bad. It seems like it should be a good fix when you don't have time to drag the buffer out.

This may be too good to be true, but my Son just sent this to me today, he said it's the talk of the PT Cruiser kind.
