Unhappy Big Problem with rear slider window

I recently went to close my rear slider on my 00 F150 when the clip snapped on the window when it shut! I went to the dealer and they said I need a whole new window which I think is insane! Does someone make a repacement latch or aftermarket window that is not so expensive so I can open and close my rear slider again? Thank You!

which part? the clip on the sliding window, or the 'anchor' that it attaches to on the stationary window? same thing recently happened to my '01, and the dealer replaced the hardware w/o replacing the window....

Its the clip on the sliding window. The top part where the pin goes through snapped off and its all ****eyed now so it wont latch closed. The dealers telling me I need to replace the whole window and its not covered under my extended warantee!

I might try to get a second opinion on the clasp but, it's not real suprising that they'd limit that work against your warranty.

I seem to remember reading something over at nhtoc.com (Harley Truck board) about the window parts being separate and could be replaced invidually... you might do some searching over there.

The same thing just happened to me. Was there any inexpensive resolution? Everything works fine otherwise so its hard to justify buying a new window when the only thing broken is a piece of plastic glued to the glass.

I had to buy a new window. I ended up putting in an electric slider and now Im much happier. I dont have to reach back to open the window and no more clips to break! Install was very simple and well worth it.

Cant quite remember where I got the window, I found the link on this site. Just do a search on electric rear slider. My new one ran me about 170 and was very easy to install. Heres some pics.

STWater,

What tools did you need to install this slider? I looked on the TruckininStyle website for the CRL and Jackson duo sliders (just like yours) and they list an adhesive kit along with a knife/scraper kit as add-ons. Also, how did you route the switch wiring to the dash?

I want to get the CRL electric slider (single pane) and after a post search, a very detailed explanation of the tools required wasn't something I was able to find. The price at Truckininstyle and oemfordparts is nearly identical ($399 plus shipping, +/- a few dollars).

RockPick's post on window replacement said he did it with a box cutter and long knife, but those aren't specialized tools. I also think the CRL electric slider used to come with sealant, but I am not sure now.

Any info is appreciated.

Needed basic hand tools to do the job. The window is sealed with an adheasive 3m tape and bolted in on top of it. I pulled the old tape off with my finger (took some time tho because I had to roll it off). Wiring was very easy, ran wires down through the rear plastics behind the seat belt, down the door sill channel, and up through the dash. I used a dremel to cut the hole for the switch below my headlight switch. Basically you have to take your time pulling the plastics off being careful not to break them like I did. The number one thing you have to remember is when grounding the switch for the window; do not ground to the dash. Ground it behind to kickpanel on the body. Hope this helps.

Sounds pretty straightforward, thanks for the info!

Question Electric Rear Slider

I saw a post here that said you paid 170 bucks for a rear slider, can you remember where you got it? I have searched, and searched and can only find them for 399 or more.
