Question Any advice on Bug Guards?

Are any of these better that the others? Also, are the stick-on one’s any good?

Hey Von-ski! Another Polish Prince in the house?

I've got a Lund Trident and I love it. It's nice and thick, and it doesn't touch the hood's surface.

Installation is a breeze. It comes with six brackets that mount right on the hood with no drilling (or even using any existing holes.)

No bugs yet this time of year, so I can't ask them for their impressions...although I'm sure they will make plenty of impressions in good time.

* 2000 F-150 XLT Black FS; 5.4L
* 4x4 ORP
* 3.55 Limited Slip
* Stepups
* Sliding Rear Window
* 6-Way Power Seat
* Remote Keyless Entry
* Lund Trident Bug Shield
* Custom Exhaust
* Fumoto Oil Drain Plug Valve (a must for do-it-yourselfers!)
* Wise Bedrug

So many mods, so little cash! On the up side, no wife to create a filibuster.

von_rumski:

I also have the Lund Trident and it is really nice. Like ragarm said the installation is simple and it looks great. I have already received compliments on it after only having it on for a couple weeks. When looking for a bug sheild, I steered clear of the stick on ones. I don't see how they could hold up as good as those that screw on.

Cool

Von,
I'll vouch for the Lund Trident too. It's on my wish list. It gets a lot of really good press on this site for sitting far enough away from your hood to clean behind and holding up really well.

Another popular one is the Bugflector II. I believe that one uses the factory holes in the underside of the hood to screw in. I'm pretty sure the Lund uses clamps.

Hope this helps.

I just got the Lund Interceptor. It screws in the existing holes in the hood. Looks good and is pretty sturdy.

I have the Bug DeflectorII and it looks very good. Fits nicely around hood and doesn't touch paint. The install uses the factory holes with plastic screw/rivit things. It's pretty secure- no movement. 40$ at PEPBOYS - 5min to install.
I like it!

Hey everybody, thanks for all the replies. I ended up getting the Lund Interceptor, the Truck Shop didn’t have the Trident in stock. Weather permitting I’m going to install it the weekend. Next step, shocks and a bed liner. -Von
