Fella's go to the Search feature and try something like 'rear slider leak', or 'window leak'.

There's probably 15 gadzillion posts, more information than you can stand.

Your eyes will pop out of your head and you will weep, if that's possible.

Question

I've been wondering why mine doesn't leak. I even have my CB antenna wire going through the gasket, and it still stays dry. Freak of assembly, maybe? Maybe you leakers could tell where it's leaking from, and we could compare differences between our sliders. I have noticed that the gasket has a gap where it meets the corner at the latching side.(two different pieces) The bottom window track also has a lip on the outside(would collect water) In my opinon this, and the gasket gap would cause a hellacious leak, but mine doesn't. Is this where yours are leaking?,,,,98

My rear window leaks to. I have decided to use some rope caulk on the outside of the truck, around the inside lip of the top of the window (if you can picture it)... I will let you know how it turns out.

Cool

I just spoke to my local Ford Dealer ( Northside Ford - San Antonio, Texas) and the service agent said that he could replace the rear window slider assembly for a $50 deductible as long as the miles were less than 50K. He said that it would be retrofitted with a newer style that would not crack or leak again.

Question

Just a quick FYI and question. I week ago I discovered that my rear sliding window leaked above the headliner(not the window itself. When checking the bolts that secure the window( 4 bolts total), I noticed they were pretty "loose".
I tightended them, but was wondering if there is a torque specification--so I don't over tighten????? I didn't see any cracks in the frame itself(fingers croseed). I hope this fixes the leak.....I'll keep you posted.

HELP!!! I have a 1998 F150 XLT with a solid rear window. The other day it started leaking (driping) above the passenger area. When I looked outside, I notice a small crack above the glass in the seam (plastic area). I took it to the dealership (because It's still under warranty) and they said they would have the glass removed and resealed. My thought is, how will that fix the crack in the plastic. He also told me, that if it leaked again, they would replace the entire glass/frame assembly. I feel that the entire assembly should be replaced, not just a "cheap fix" -- as they put it -- (yes, that is what they called it). They said they wanted to do the least expensive thing first, and then replace it if needed. Does this sound right??? I paid good money for this truck and don't want to have a "cheap" fix under warranty. I told them to put it on hold, and I'm going to take it to another dealership for a second opinion. Ok, with all that said, WHAT IS YOUR OPINION as to the correct fix for this window leak???? I know this is a known issue on many 1997+ F150's. My "second opinion" appointment is on 01/26/2001. So everyone's feedback would be really really apprciated. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Don't torque them to tight!! As your truck gets bumps from the road or off-road that is what cracks the plastic and makes it leak. That is what I have been told any way, I hope that helps.

HEY!! They are going to replace the entire window assembly, under the "bumper-to-bumper." They didn't hesitate to fix it right, the first time. Rochester Auto Collection in East-Rochester is the BEST!!
