Side mirror colored backing

I had to replace my passenger side mirror and they only had chrome and black. The sales person told me that the original one would just come out and I could put my existing white one on. Has anyone removed this colored back piece? Any suggestions on getting it off without cracking it?

Thanks in advance !

I did it, seems to me I remember looking in behind the mirror and there are FOUR clips that can be released with a screwdriver.

Perhaps you are the one to answer a question I posted earlier in the electrical section--

Can anybody verify, for absolute certain that this power mirror plug is the same as the OE on a 2002?

Sorry Mad, I have a '97 so I cant help.

Tommy, if you turn the mirror all the way to the left you'll be able to see the clips on the right side. A long , thin, straight screwdriver will be able to reach them. After you get one side loose turn the mirror all the way in the opposite direction and repat the procedure.

Good luck.
