Mirror inserts?
How easy is it to swap the mirror inserts? I want to go from the chrome to t-red(my body color). If anyone wants some chrome ones and has a t-red truck I'll trade ya?
Also, I know it's easy to swap grilles so if anyone has a t-red grille and wants a chrome one, I swap you that too
I just don't want to go have mine painted and if someone is looking for these I though I might could help....

Guys,
I have had the same idea(s). I was going to paint mine satin black and see what happens. I could always replace them if it didn't work out OK. I believe they just snap in (like most things these days). If you move the mirrors so they point all the way down you can see inside (behind the mirror) the plastic clip type mechanisms. I did this a few days ago. One idea I had would be to go to the local Ford Parts. dept and ask to see them. You could then tell how they attach. Or you could ask them to tell you how to remove them. Does anyone have the proper book that would illustrate this? This is on my "to do" list as well so keep us posted Please!

Keeper15,
I forgot, I would be interested in swapping my chrome with youif we could remove them OK. Mine are only 3 months and 2100 miles old and of course in XceLenT condition... Yours?

I'd also like to swap my chrome mirror covers for unpainted black covers. I think the black looks better with darker paint and chrome looks better on lighter colors.
I'd also like to get ahold of an Expedition grill insert. I'm not too fond of the silver tic-tac-toe XLT grill. Any Expy owners with a billet like to part with their OEM grill?

Gentlemen,
I was able to view the mirror removal procedure from the service manual available to the members of the "Built Ford Tough Insider" club.
There a four clips... first move the mirror glass to the full down position then the two upper clips will be visible, release them (this "releasing" action was not described, I hope it will be obvious). Next move the mirror glass fully towards the window and release the outer clip. Finally move the mirror glass fully away from the window AND push the mirror assembly forward (swivel mount) to allow access and release the inner clip. The insert should then "free" and able to be removed. To install the insert- line up the clips and push firmly to enguage them.

4 hr.,
I received this "invitation" in the mail a few days ago. Apparently Ford is experimenting with this as some sort of customer loyalty ploy. They give you a website and an ID an password. Then you can logon and access TSB's, recall info., service manuals, etc. There is also a lot of other "fluffy" stuff I haven't looked at yet. I asked others (here) about this and got a very limited response but from what I have gathered they are offering this ONLY to recent F150 purchasers (no leasees, etc).
I don't know if it will do you any good without the ID and PW but the site is: www.myfseries.fordvehicles.com
You could somehow try to contact Mr. Gene Brown (F-150/SuperCrew Marketing Mgr.) or Mr. Lew Echlin (Super Duty F-Series Marketing Mgr.) and see if you could apply. Their names were at the bottom of the invitation (sorry no phone numbers). However the following address was printed on a reply card for non-webbies: Insider Program Headquarters - PO Box 3017 - Livonia, Michigan - 48151-9881)

Thanks X, Went there as you indicated and read the terms of membership. Bought mine used so I am inelegible. Maybe the people at Ford will see this and invite all of us to join. Perhaps a little brown-nosing will help? Wishing you all (and the wonderful people at Ford's "insider club", please note e-mail address below) a very Happy Thanksgiving. Dennis

Hey guys, has anyone looked into the side mirrors that have that extra part sticking out from the far end of the mirror that displays the turn signal light? I was wondering if we can upgrade to that back, I'd love to replace my stock unpainted black side mirrors.
