Question window tinting

What's the feedback on Tinted Film VS tinted glass

I live in AZ . The sun will be starting to really heat things up soon. My truck has all clear window in it.

My only experience with window tint film was from about 15 years ago. It used to get wear lines after a year or two from rolling the window up&down. Has this improved any over the years This would be the cheapest way to tint the windows, but I don't want to have to do it every couple of years.

The other option would be to replace the glass with tinted glass

The quality of materials has come a long ways in the last 15 years. I think you will get an easy 5 years out of a quality tint before you may see any differences. I have had tint on all 3 of my vehicles so far and except for the last one have had no complaints. The only reason I didnt like the last vehicle I had with tint was because I was cheap and had some guy do it in his garage and he used cheap tint and after about 2 years started to turn purple.

If you go to a reputable installer and get a good brand tint (llumar, 3M, and there are some others) that has a lifetime warranty you should be fine. I have found that if there is a good aftermarket auto shop in town (think import ricers) that they usually know which tint shops around town do the best installs if you ask for a recommendation.

I like dark tint so mine is illegal here in florida so I couldnt get the warranty but I payed $130 (I got Llumar brand) for all windows in an extended cab plus the stripe across the windshield. Mine is 5% on the front windows and windshield and then 20% over the factory tinted glass in the back. If you go to my gallery there are a couple picks. Also, if I had all clear windows, depending on what color truck I had, I might get a tint that has a titanium color to it which adds a slight mirror/silver color to the tint.

If you get high quality tint from a competent installer you can't go wrong with window tint. My last tint was 7 years old when I sold the vehicle and still looked like new. 99% of the time the vehicle was in the sun in N. Florida/S. Georgia.
